Lab Members

Dr. Wendy Macklin

Dr. Macklin has been the department chair of Cell and Developmental Biology since 2009. She previously held faculty positions at UCLA and The Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Macklin has dedicated her career to the investigation of myelin in all of its stages, functions, and components.

Tessa Allen

Graduate Student - Neuroscience

Tessa joined the lab in 2022 and works on understanding how neuronal activity affects oligodendrocyte differentiation during early development. Tessa can't get through a sentence without laughing and recites spanish rap daily in lab.

Dr. Lisa Golden

Postdoc

Lisa joined the Macklin lab in 2021 and works on the MS antibody project, focusing on the role of microglia in mediating remyelination ex vivo and in vivo. Outside of the lab she enjoys doing aerial arts.

Nick Jahahn

Lab Manager/PRA

Lab master Nick joined the lab in 2021. He works on the stroke project, investigating how oligodendrocytes respond to oxygen deprivation. Nick recently learned to do a pull up.

Dr. Andrew Lapato

Postdoc

Andrew joined the lab in 2020. He works on the MS antibody project investigating how pathogenic antibodies affect oligodendrocyte differentation. Andrew would like everyone to know there is a type of fly that produces milk.

Dr. Bill Lynch

Clinical Professor

Bill joined the Macklin lab in September 2023. He previously held a faculty position at the Northeast Ohio Medical University and Kent State University Brain Health Research Institute where his lab investigated virus-induced neurodegeneration. Bill has joined the Macklin lab to develop novel viral tools and model systems to probe neuron-glial interactions during development and neurodegenerative disease.

When not in the lab, Bill likes to telemark ski, mountain bike, hike, whitewater SUP, windsurf, surf, flyfish, build things, cook, eat good food, drink good beer, play Oldtime, Irish and Bluegrass music and ride his motorcycle.

Dr. Davin Packer

Postdoc

Davin joined the Macklin Lab in the Summer of 2023. He studies the role of the mTOR pathway in oligodendroglial differentiation and myelination, cytoskeletal dynamics, and endosomal/lysosomal activities.

Graham Peet

Graduate Student - Neuroscience

Graham joined the lab in 2022. His project focuses on the impact of pathogenic autoantibodies on remyelination in MS. In his time not dedicated to working he enjoys the local outdoors.

Becca Rodriguez

PRA

Becca joined the lab in February 2024. She works on both the stroke and MS projects in the lab. When not in the lab she likes taking her dog Trooper on hikes, and enjoying the Colorado sunshine.

Tyler Shambaugh

PRA

Tyler joined the Macklin lab in July 2023 to work on the mTOR signaling project. He graduated from Bates College in May 2023 with a B.S. in Biology and Gender & Sexuality Studies.
